Admissions

Concord College is an academically selective, over-subscribed school that welcomes applications year-round. Calendar

About the campus

Located on a 73-acre campus in the English hamlet of Acton Burnell, the school blends historic buildings, such as the Georgian Main Hall and the ruins of the 'Parliament Barn', with modern facilities. These include an ultra-modern £12 million science block, the Jubilee building for Mathematics and the library, and seventeen boarding residences offering single-occupancy bedrooms. Additional amenities include a dining room, a RIBA-shortlisted student kitchen, common rooms like the 'West End' and the Old Chapel, and a theatre.

Co-curriculars

The school provides a wide-ranging super-curriculum and an extensive enrichment programme, including sports, music, performing arts, and various clubs and societies. Students participate in outdoor education, including trips and expeditions, and have opportunities to pursue the Duke of Edinburgh Awards. Facilities for these activities include sports fields, three gyms, two sports halls, a high ropes course, tennis, squash, and basketball courts, and an indoor heated pool.

    Dr Michael Truss joined Concord in 2021 as Principal. He read Physics at Balliol College, Oxford, and holds a PhD in Theoretical Astrophysics from the University of Leicester, having previously held teaching and research posts at the University of St Andrews and Durham University.

  • Mr Jeremy KerslakeVice-Principal (Pastoral) & Designated Safeguarding Lead

    Mr Jeremy Kerslake read Theology at Trinity College, Oxford, and joined Concord in 1995. He is responsible for all aspects of wellbeing at the College, including safeguarding and boarding, and serves as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and mental health lead.

  • Dr Rob PughVice-Principal (Academic)

    Dr Robert Pugh studied Geography at Hertford College, University of Oxford, and holds a PhD in Palaeoceanography from the University of Cambridge. He joined Concord in 2008 and is responsible for all aspects of the academic life of the College, including teaching, learning, and the curriculum.

  • Mr Matthew Hodge, CPFABursar

    Mr Matthew Hodge studied History at King’s College London and joined Concord as Bursar in 2023. He is responsible for the financial aspects of the College, as well as infrastructure and compliance, and acts as Clerk to the Trustees of the Bell Concord Educational Trust.

  • Ms Susan CorrellHead of Lower School

    Ms Susan Correll holds a BA in Human Movement Studies from Leeds Beckett University, an MA in Education from the University of Nottingham, and CertTESOL and DipTESOL qualifications from Trinity College London. She is responsible for all aspects of Lower School life (Forms 3, 4 & 5) and is a Deputy DSL.

  • Mr Daniel WilsonAssistant Principal (Professional Development & Learning)

    Mr Daniel Wilson studied Literature at Warwick University and holds an MSc in Learning and Teaching from the University of Oxford. He has been at Concord since 2011 and is responsible for staff training, student registration, induction, and the student prefect team, while also serving as a Deputy DSL.

    Mrs Diane van Dongen studied Chemistry with German at Kingston and Hanover and joined Concord in 2018. She is responsible for all aspects of the university applications process and the College careers programme.
