Oryx International School is an independent, five-star British international school in Doha, serving exclusively the children of Qatar Airways employees and its subsidiaries. It is part of the Orbital Education group and provides an enhanced English National Curriculum for students aged 4 to 18.

Programmes

Learning support

Admissions

Admission is open to children aged 4 to 18, spanning Foundation Stage 1 through Year 13, with eligibility restricted to the children of employees of Qatar Airways and its approved subsidiaries. The admissions process requires a non-refundable application fee and, depending on the year group, either a soft assessment or a CAT4 assessment. Applications are accepted throughout the year for most year groups, though specific restrictions apply to Years 10 through 13.

Calendar

The school operates on a Sunday to Thursday schedule, with standard hours from 08:00 to 14:00. During Ramadan and Eid, student hours are adjusted to 08:30 to 13:30. A detailed events calendar, including exam dates, is available to the school community via a downloadable PDF.

About the campus

The Mesaimeer campus features state-of-the-art laboratories for physics, biology, chemistry, food technology, and resistant materials, alongside dedicated classrooms for music, drama, dance, and fine arts. Sports facilities include a six-court sports hall, a training gym, an indoor 25m swimming pool, a teaching splash pool, outdoor courts for basketball, netball, and tennis, an athletics track, and a full-sized 4G football pitch. The campus also houses a 400-seat auditorium, a two-floor canteen, and specialized areas for Sixth Form students, including study and social spaces.

Co-curriculars

The school offers a wide range of enrichment activities, including eSTEM, performing arts, and sports. Students may participate in the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award, the Model United Nations (MUN), and various school trips and residentials. Additionally, the school provides after-school activities (ASAs) and hosts events such as music and drama recitals and school productions.

    Allen Bird assumed the role of Executive Principal in January 2026. He has extensive experience in education, having held executive roles in both the UK and the Middle East, including leading large multi-academy trusts and international schools. He is a passionate cyclist and holds a strong belief in the importance of discipline and vitality in education.

    Andrea SmithVice Principal

    Andrea Smith joined Oryx in 2019 and has over 30 years of experience in education, with 25 years in senior leadership. She holds a BA (Hons) in History & Geography, a Post Graduate Certificate in Primary Education, and a professional qualification in Headship; she is also ILM Level 7 trained as an Executive coach. Previously a Primary Headteacher in England, she currently oversees and supports the leadership teams, staff, and students in both the Primary and Secondary schools.

    Amin HashemHead of Operations

    Amin Hashem holds a degree in accounting and an MBA in management from Beirut Arab University, and has been a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) since 2022. His career includes serving as a senior budget analyst at a university in Lebanon and managing international schools in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where he notably served as Head of Business Development and Shared Services. He joined Oryx International School to contribute to its success as a top-tier educational institution.
