The school follows a (2-5-3-4) organizational plan, covering Kindergarten, Elementary (Grades 1-5), Middle School (Grades 6-8), and High School (Grades 9-12). The curriculum aligns with American (CCSS & Michigan state standards) and UAE MOE requirements, offering core subjects like Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Arabic, Islamic Studies, and Moral Social Cultural Studies. High school students can pursue Advanced Placement (AP) courses and choose from 36 electives, while middle school students have access to four elective courses. Segregation of boys and girls is implemented from Grade 5 through Grade 12.

Greenwood International School is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). It has been recognized as a Common Sense School (2022-2024) and a Showcase School for Excellence (2021-2022). Students participate in international competitions, such as the Achieve3000 reading program, where the school has achieved high rankings.

The school maintains an Inclusion Department and an ELL (English Language Learners) Department to support students with diverse needs. These departments provide specialized rooms and staff to ensure all students receive the necessary support to excel academically. The school also offers comprehensive student care and support services, including pastoral care, to foster an inclusive environment where every individual feels valued.

Registration typically opens in March or April for the following academic year. The process is conducted online, requiring submission of documents such as Emirates IDs, previous school reports, and transfer certificates. Admission is determined through entrance assessments—including verbal interviews for Kindergarten, written tests for KG2 and Grade 1, and CAT4 testing for Grades 2 through 12—followed by a review of academic credits for high school applicants. Students of determination are evaluated by the Inclusion Department to ensure appropriate support.

The academic year runs from early September to June, divided into two semesters of approximately 15-16 weeks each. The school operates Monday through Thursday from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm, and Friday from 7:30 am to 12:00 pm. The calendar includes various assessments, such as i-Ready, MAP tests, and AP official exams, alongside graduation ceremonies and public holidays.

The campus features specialized STEM rooms, robotics facilities, and ICT labs, alongside an interactive WizeFloor for immersive learning. It includes dedicated art rooms, libraries, language labs, and an Arabic Hub. For student well-being, the school provides a clinic with healthcare professionals, Parliament Wellbeing Corners, and lounge areas for staff. Administrative needs are supported by modern offices and boardrooms, while inclusive education is facilitated through specialized Inclusion and ELL rooms.

The school offers a diverse range of activities to support holistic development, including sports such as basketball, football, table tennis, badminton, fencing, and swimming. Students can participate in clubs and programs like the Environmental Club, reading mentors, nutrition and health initiatives, and community service. Leadership opportunities are provided through the Student Parliament, and students engage in inter-house competitions, camps, and various school-wide celebrations.
