Cathedral International School

The school is committed to a rigorous, human-centered educational model that places the student at the center of the learning process. It emphasizes the formation of values, integrity, and social responsibility, aiming to inspire and transform students into citizens who can apply their knowledge effectively in the real world. The institution also maintains a strong commitment to environmental sustainability as an accredited Eco-School.

The academic programme is divided into four main levels: Pre-school (Little Cathedral, ages 2-5) using a 'play-work' methodology; Primary (grades 1-4); Intermediate; and Bachillerato (secondary). The curriculum is designed to be bilingual, fostering cognitive, social, and emotional skills through active learning, research, and exploration. The school is recognized by the Ministry of Education of the Dominican Republic (MINERD) for its English-language instruction.

Graduates of the school are prepared to succeed in both national and international universities. The institution emphasizes the development of leadership, character, and service, and is a member of the National Honor Society (NHS) to recognize and foster academic achievement.

The school provides dedicated psychological support departments for each educational level to assist with the emotional well-being and development of students. Additionally, the institution maintains a medical department to provide health services and support for the prevention and management of health issues.

The school admits students based on the requirements established by the Ministry of Education for pre-school, basic, intermediate, and secondary levels. The process involves a formal application, an evaluation of the student, and the submission of required documentation, including medical and registration forms. Admission is subject to the availability of vacancies and the family's formal acceptance of the school's educational project, policies, and procedures.

The campus consists of three interconnected buildings. Building 1, known as Little Cathedral, serves children aged two to six and includes 13 classrooms, a gym, and outdoor play areas. Building 2 houses primary students (grades 2-6) with 17 classrooms, while Building 3 accommodates students from grades 7 to 12 with 16 classrooms. Shared facilities across the campus include a library, laboratories, a robotics lab, a medical department, a cafeteria, a dance studio, and sports courts.

The school offers a range of extracurricular activities designed to foster student development, including participation in a student council, educational excursions, and various artistic and sporting events. Additionally, the school organizes a summer camp for children aged 2 to 14 and hosts events such as the CIS Chess Cup to promote strategy and school spirit.
