Fosse Way School is a warm, welcoming community dedicated to providing a high-quality, relevant, and balanced education for pupils with complex special educational needs and autism. The school emphasizes high aspirations for all students, aiming to help them reach their full potential and grow in self-confidence within a happy, positive, and inclusive environment. It is committed to a strong partnership between home and school to ensure students achieve high standards across the curriculum.

The school offers three distinct learning pathways—Hawking, Keller, and Turing—designed to meet the diverse needs of its students. The curriculum covers a range of subjects including Maths, English, Science, Humanities, RE, ICT, Art, Music, PE, PSHE, Cooking and Food Technology, Design Technology, and Phonics. The academic offering includes an Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum, a Post-16 programme, and a satellite provision at Writhlington School for students with autism.

The school’s primary vision is to prepare all students for adulthood and life beyond the school environment. It focuses on equipping each young person with the skills, knowledge, and confidence required to navigate life with independence and dignity, while fostering personal and academic achievement.

The school provides extensive support services, including a dedicated Speech and Language Therapy team that works collaboratively with teaching staff through whole-class, small group, and 1:1 interventions. A Mental Health Support Team (MHST) offers Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for students experiencing anxiety, low mood, or emotional regulation difficulties. Additionally, the Specialist Autism Support Service (SASS) provides training and support for schools, families, and professionals to promote neuro-affirming strategies.

Admissions are managed through the Bath and North East Somerset Council, and prospective pupils must have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). The school conducts small group tours for families who have completed a prospective pupil form, with priority given to those who have already received an EHCP. Each referral is reviewed by the senior leadership team to determine if the school can meet the child's specific needs and if there is sufficient capacity in an appropriate class.

The school operates on a term-based calendar, with specific dates for terms and holidays published for the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 academic years. The school day begins with registration at 8:55 am and concludes at 3:00 pm, totaling 31 hours and 40 minutes of instruction per week.

The campus includes meeting and conference rooms that are available for hire by the public and businesses. The school also features specialized spaces to support its curriculum, including a café, and provides an environment designed to cater to students with complex special educational needs and autism.

The school offers a variety of clubs and activities to support student engagement and development. Parents are occasionally requested to make nominal voluntary contributions toward certain activities, though no child is excluded from participation due to a failure to contribute.
