Curriculum
Teaching approach
Inspired by the educational insights of Benjamin Franklin, the school’s philosophy is centered on the principle: "Tell me and I forget, Teach me and I remember, Involve me and I learn." The academic approach emphasizes student learning centers where students work collaboratively with peers while instructors facilitate differentiated learning. The school aims to build "better people" by cultivating ethical behavior, community, and a set of inter- and intrapersonal skills through a dedicated character education program.
Programmes
The school delivers a comprehensive, research-based curriculum aligned with Florida’s B.E.S.T. Standards and the Next Generation Sunshine State Standards. The academic program spans K-12, covering core subjects including mathematics, reading/language arts, science, and social studies, with high school students having the option to pursue the IB Diploma Programme. The high school curriculum also offers a wide range of honors and AP courses in subjects such as English, calculus, biology, chemistry, and world history, alongside electives in areas like journalism, business management, and visual and performing arts.
Outcomes
Franklin Academy is the first charter school organization in the nation to have each of its campuses designated as an IB World School. For the 2024-25 school year, several campuses achieved an "A" grade from the Florida Department of Education, while others were designated as "B" schools. The curriculum is designed to ensure students are college and career ready by focusing on both short-term academic success and long-term skill development.
