Girls Global Academy

The school is built upon four pillars: sisterhood, scholarship, service, and safety. It operates on the belief that girls matter and aims to foster a community of innovators who navigate the world with confidence, compassion, and intellect. The school emphasizes a college- and career-going culture, utilizing personal learning plans to support students' trajectories from 9th grade through graduation.

As an IB World School, the academy offers the IB Career-related Programme (CP), which integrates IB Diploma Programme courses with career-related studies in business or engineering. The curriculum includes core requirements such as Personal and Professional Skills, a Reflective Project, Service-Learning, and Language Development. Students engage in rigorous coursework across subjects including Civil Engineering, Environmental Systems and Societies, Language and Literature, Visual Arts, and World Language exploration.

The CARE Team, overseen by a nationally board-certified counselor, includes a wellness specialist, a licensed clinical social worker, and a school-based behavioral therapist. This team provides trauma-informed social-emotional and mental health support, including individual and group counseling, restorative practices, and conflict resolution. The school maintains a full-inclusion model for students with disabilities and English Language Learners, providing tiered supports, modifications, and accommodations as outlined in IEPs and 504 plans.

Girls Global Academy participates in the My School DC (MSDC) common application lottery. Prospective students must reside in the District of Columbia and provide proof of residency. While the school does not conduct aptitude or achievement tests, it offers enrollment preferences for children of staff and siblings of currently enrolled students. Students transferring into the 11th grade must have earned 13 credits, including two each in English, mathematics, social studies, and science, plus five elective credits. The school does not admit new 12th-grade students.

The school operates on a quarterly academic system. The academic year typically concludes in mid-June. The calendar includes designated days for staff professional development, during which there is no school for students, as well as observances for U.S. national holidays.

The school is located at 733 8th St NW, Washington, DC 20001. The campus provides a dedicated space for students, including facilities for athletics and various enrichment programs. The school utilizes technology, such as Chromebooks and internet hotspots, to support the learning environment.

The school offers a variety of enrichment activities, including athletics such as volleyball and cheerleading. Students participate in the "LEADership Academy" on Wednesday afternoons, which provides an early release schedule for students to explore local and global community issues and develop professional skills. Additionally, the "Sister 2 Sister" mentorship program fosters a peer support network through monthly events, service activities, and community building.
