Guildford High School

Guildford High School is an all-girls institution dedicated to fostering a love of learning, curiosity, and creativity. Its ethos is built upon 'The GHS 8' aims, which prioritize a supportive, kind, and secure environment where pupils are encouraged to be brave, resilient, and ambitious. The school believes that single-sex education provides the optimal setting for girls to excel academically and develop self-belief without inhibition.

The school is divided into a Junior School (ages 4–11), a Senior School (ages 11–16), and a Sixth Form (ages 16–18). The curriculum is knowledge-based and complemented by an expansive Academic Enrichment programme that includes thematic sessions. In the Sixth Form, students follow an A-level curriculum, with the GHS Futures Programme providing guidance for university and career pathways, including specialized support for Oxbridge and medicine.

The school achieves high academic results, with 90% of GCSE grades at 9/8 and 85% of A-level grades at A*/A. A significant majority of leavers (97%) progress to Russell Group universities or institutions abroad. The school welcomes applications for entry primarily at Reception (4+), Year 3 (7+), Year 7 (11+), and Sixth Form (Year 12), with limited places occasionally available in other year groups. The admissions process includes readiness evaluations for Reception and age-appropriate entrance testing for all other year groups. The school offers an extensive co-curricular programme featuring over 70 clubs, including the Greenpower electric car team, drama productions, and music ensembles. Students participate in activities such as LAMDA lessons, sports, and enterprise challenges like the Tycoon Business Challenge. The school also provides opportunities for leadership through the prefect system, subject ambassadorships, and student-led clubs.
