Aurora International School of The Arts

Aurora International School of the Arts is inspired by the Reggio Emilia experience, viewing the child as a competent, curious individual who actively constructs knowledge through interactions with others and the environment. The school emphasizes the environment as the "third teacher," fostering sustainability, community involvement, and a deep connection to nature, while promoting the "hundred languages of children" to support creative and expressive development.

The school offers a continuum of education from nursery and preschool through to middle school, utilizing the New Zealand Curriculum to provide a holistic, inquiry-based learning experience. Core subjects include literacy, mathematics, science, creative and performing arts (visual arts, dance, drama, music), and health and physical education, with additional language instruction in Spanish and support for mother-tongue languages. The curriculum is enriched by "Exploration Projects" and education outside the classroom, which encourage students to engage with real-world scenarios and community issues.

The school provides a personalized enrolment process, with each family allocated an Admissions Officer to guide them through the tour and application. Interested families can submit an Expression of Interest form via the school's website or contact the admissions team directly for inquiries regarding class sizes, waitlists, and application deadlines.

The school operates on an academic year cycle, with the 2025–2026 year themed around "Weaving ecological identities." Additionally, the school offers a summer project programme, such as the 2026 "Utopia: Designing the Possible" session, which runs from late June through July for learners aged 2 to 15.

The campus is designed with a "home away from home" concept, utilizing repurposed and natural materials to create a nurturing environment. Facilities include thoughtfully designed interior spaces with ample natural light, as well as outdoor areas such as balconies, terraces, and playgrounds that serve as extensions of the classroom for hands-on exploration.
