Hull’s School is the first English college in Zurich, providing a four-year secondary programme for Swiss and international adolescents. It serves as an alternative route to university and higher education, preparing students for IGCSE and A-level examinations.

Teaching approach

The school aims to provide a broadly-based education that fosters independent thinking, self-confidence, perseverance, and tolerance. It seeks to combine the breadth of a liberal Swiss education with the high level of specialisation found in the British system, preparing students for success in a globalised world where English is the lingua franca.

Programmes

The four-year programme covers the UK Fifth and Sixth Forms (Years 10 to 13), with instruction provided in English, except for modern languages. The curriculum includes a German Language and Literature programme that compares to those of Swiss Gymnasia, alongside subjects leading to IGCSE and A-level qualifications.

Outcomes

Approximately 80 percent of students pass their final A-level examinations well enough to achieve their goals. About one-third of graduates go on to study at universities in Switzerland, while around half pursue higher education in the UK—including at Russell Group universities—or in the EU.
