Founded in 1960, Lennen Bilingual School is the oldest and only truly French-American bilingual school in Paris. It serves children from Toddlers through 5th Grade (ages 2 to 11) in a close-knit, multicultural community.

Teaching approach

The school is guided by a humanistic vision that honors the legacy of its founder, Patricia Lennen, while focusing on the development of the whole child. Its core values include kindness, inclusion, multiculturalism, the joy of learning, and self-confidence. The school believes that a fulfilled child creates their own path rather than replicating a model, and it emphasizes a caring environment where every difference is viewed as a strength.

Programmes

The school offers a dual French-American curriculum featuring a balanced 50/50 bilingual immersion. Each classroom is led by two native-speaking teachers, ensuring authentic instruction in both languages. The academic program combines the standards of the French National Education system with American educational practices, focusing on reading, writing, numeracy, and reasoning, while encouraging project-based learning and collaboration.

Outcomes

Lennen prepares students to be confident, curious, and globally minded individuals who are fluent in two languages and comfortable in two cultures. The curriculum fosters cognitive flexibility, problem-solving skills, and academic rigor, equipping students to thrive in an ever-evolving world. Graduates are prepared for international academic pathways and future global citizenship.

Learning support

The school provides individualized support and monitoring for every student, with small class sizes (averaging 15 to 20 students) allowing teachers to know each child personally. For students new to English, EAL (English as an Additional Language) support is available through a combination of in-class push-in support and targeted pull-out sessions. The educational team works closely with families to adapt learning pathways to the specific needs and pace of each child.
