Programmes

Learning support

Admissions

The school is non-selective and welcomes applications throughout the year, provided places are available. Prospective families are invited to attend open mornings or schedule private tours, with virtual meetings available for those unable to visit in person. Students are placed in year groups based on their age as of 31 August, and applicants for Grades 9–12 whose first language is not English must complete an assessment. The admissions process is supported by a transitions programme designed to help new students and families settle into the community.

Calendar

The academic year is divided into three terms. The 2025-2026 calendar includes an orientation day for new students on 26 August 2025, with the first term running from 27 August to 12 December 2025. The spring term begins on 5 January 2026 and concludes on 27 March 2026, followed by the summer term from 13 April to 26 June 2026. Secondary residential trips are scheduled for September, while primary residential trips take place in May.

About the campus

The school operates across two campuses in West London: a Primary and Middle School in Chiswick and a Diploma College in Ealing. The Chiswick campus is located adjacent to the 200-acre Gunnersbury Park, which students use for Forest School, recreation, and PE lessons. The park also houses a sports hub developed in partnership with Ealing Council and Brentford FC Community Sports Trust, used for training and competitive sporting events.

Co-curriculars

The school offers a variety of after-school clubs and extracurricular activities provided by staff at no additional cost, with some activities led by external specialists incurring extra fees. Students participate in residential trips, and the school maintains a partnership with Brentford FC for a post-16 professional football programme. Additionally, students engage in community service, student government, and language-focused events such as World of Languages Week.

    Richard Parker joined ISL in 2017 as Principal, having previously served as Principal at ISL Surrey and held various leadership roles in Hong Kong, Portugal, Brunei, and Spain. He is an IB Workshop Leader for administrators and holds an MA and BA in history from Cambridge University.

    Dr El Kahina Meziane joined ISL in 2015 and has held various roles including Extended Essay Coordinator and Head of Department for Diploma Science. She holds a PhD in Immunology/Medical Oncology and previously worked in scientific research at the universities of Manchester and Cambridge.
