Mea Mater Elizabeth High School

Mea Mater Elizabeth High School is a non-profit, co-educational boarding school established to facilitate and actualize the potential of its students. It aims to develop articulate, focused, and well-rounded youth who are academically, spiritually, morally, socially, and culturally grounded. The school encourages students to pursue excellence and adopt a unique, independent approach to life.

The academic curriculum is based on the Nigerian Universal Basic Education (UBE) system and prepares students for both national and international qualifications. The programme covers a broad range of subjects across sciences, arts, commercial, and vocational disciplines. Beyond core academics, the school integrates mandatory skill acquisition and extracurricular activities to ensure students are developed in both mind and character.

Students are prepared for national and international examinations, including BECE, SSCE (WAEC and NECO), UTME (JAMB), TOEFL, SAT, IGCSE, and IELTS. The school has been recognized for high academic performance, including ranking 5th in national WAEC ratings and producing students who have received Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards for achieving the highest marks globally in specific subjects.

The school maintains a fully fledged Students Affairs Unit dedicated to addressing student complaints and facilitating communication between students and their parents or guardians. This unit also oversees the entry and exit of students from the boarding facility.

Admission is open to boys and girls for entry into JSS1 through SS2. The process involves an entrance examination and an oral interview, with application forms available online or at various designated sales outlets across Nigeria. Entrance examinations are held annually at multiple regional centres, including locations in Enugu, Anambra, Cross River, Rivers, Lagos, and Abuja.

The school operates on a planned academic session, with specific entrance examinations typically scheduled in the first quarter of the year. For example, the entrance examination for the 2025/2026 session is scheduled for March 1, 2025. Business hours for administrative inquiries are 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

The campus is a boarding facility featuring structured classrooms, dormitories, a refectory, and sports fields. Academic infrastructure includes a conventional library stocked with resources across sciences, arts, and technology, alongside an electronic and virtual library. Specialized facilities comprise science laboratories, a computer lab, a fine art studio, a technical workshop, a French lab, and a language lab.

The school emphasizes holistic development through a wide range of skill acquisition programmes, including hairdressing, electrical installation, sewing, baking, chemical production, interior decoration, bead-making, and horse riding. Students also participate in various clubs such as the Debating, Dramatic, Environmental, Art, Bible, Young Farmer’s, JETS, Press, and Music clubs. Additionally, the school supports engagement in music (choir, band, orchestra), theatre, modelling, public speaking, and sports.
