The American International School of Budapest (AISB) is a private, non-profit, co-educational day school serving students from Early Childhood 3 through Grade 12. Founded in 1973, it provides a rigorous international education on a state-of-the-art campus in Nagykovácsi, Hungary, for a diverse community of over 960 students.

Teaching approach

The school's mission is to empower learners to build their futures and contribute to a better world. It emphasizes a nurturing, inquiry-based approach that values the "whole child," fostering critical thinking, creativity, and global citizenship. The Early Childhood program is specifically inspired by Reggio Emilia principles, viewing children as inherently curious, capable, and competent, while prioritizing play-based learning and strong, empathetic relationships.

Programmes

AISB offers an international curriculum from Early Childhood through Grade 12. The Early Childhood program (ages 3-5) focuses on play, inquiry, and language development. In the High School, students may pursue the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program or the Global Impact Diploma. The school also offers a Dual Diploma option, combining both the GID and IB programs, to provide personalized learning pathways.

Outcomes

AISB reports a 100% university acceptance rate to institutions in the US, UK, and worldwide. High school students achieve an average IB score of 35, and the school maintains an average SAT score of 1343.
