Admissions
The school accepts applications for Pre-K through 12th grade, with a priority for children of families transferring from abroad to work for the United Nations, Missions to the UN, and Consulates. The application process includes required documentation, interviews, or assessments to determine if the program is a suitable fit. Applications for the Manhattan campus for the 2026-27 school year are due by 15 November 2025, though the school continues to accept applications from UN families and those relocating internationally after this date.

Facilities
About the campus
Located in Manhattan overlooking the East River, the campus is a four-story complex that includes specialized spaces for arts, athletics, and academics. Facilities support a variety of disciplines, including studio practice for visual arts, music, theatre, and film, as well as sports teams. The school also provides library resources and maintains green space and playgrounds.
Co-curriculars
UNIS encourages participation in a wide range of activities to support the development of the whole child, including student clubs, committees, publications, and community-service opportunities. The school also offers various travel programs, environmental programs, and camps. Additionally, there is an extensive athletics program featuring 38 school teams across three seasons (Fall, Winter, and Spring) for students in 7th through 12th grades.

Dr. Dan Brenner earned his PhD in School/Clinical Psychology from Hofstra University. His career includes serving as a school psychologist, principal, and Assistant Superintendent, followed by eight years as Superintendent of Schools in Roslyn, New York, and later as Superintendent in Darien, Connecticut. He is driven by a philosophy of putting students first and believes in the coexistence of rigor and fun in the learning process.

Michele Bett holds a Bachelor of Arts with Honors in English and History and a Master of Education in International Education Administration. She previously served as Deputy Headmaster at Ridley College in Canada and held various roles at TASIS, The American School in England, including Academic Dean and Curriculum Director. She is recognized as a strong leader committed to fostering a global perspective and advocating for students.

Michael Feeney holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Master’s in Public Administration, and is certified in School Business Management. He has over 21 years of experience managing municipalities and public boards of education, including serving as Director of Finance and Operations for the Darien Public School System and Chief Financial Officer for the City of Bridgeport. He joined UNIS as Chief Financial Officer in 2019.

Ashlee Willaman is a human-centered leader with over 20 years of experience in human resources and organizational development. She previously served as the Director of Human Resources at Park Avenue Armory and the Museum of Arts & Design, and as Vice President of Administration and HR at Columbia Artists Management. She holds HR management certificates and a BFA in Dance from The Ohio State University.
