Oporto British School is a not-for-profit, family-focused international school for students aged 3 to 18, located in Porto. It is the only IB World School in northern Portugal, combining a British-style education with an international curriculum.

Programmes

The school offers a continuous educational journey from Early Years through to the IB Diploma Programme. Early Years focuses on foundational literacy and numeracy, while Primary (Forms 1-5) develops independent learning skills in subjects including chess, music, art, PE, and Portuguese. Secondary education includes Key Stage 3, followed by IGCSE preparation in Forms 9 and 10, and culminates in the IB Diploma Programme for Forms 11 and 12.

Outcomes

The school has delivered the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) since 1992. Students prepare for IGCSE examinations at the end of Form 10 and culminate their secondary education with the IBDP, which prepares them for university life. The school also provides information sessions regarding applications to Portuguese universities.

Admissions

About the campus

Located in Foz do Douro, the campus overlooks the Douro River and the Atlantic Ocean. Current facilities include classrooms for all stages, a library, science labs, an IT room, an art room, a sports hall, and a football field. An ambitious Campus Development Plan is underway, which includes plans for a new primary building, an auditorium, expanded sports facilities, and new green areas.

Co-curriculars
