Osaka YMCA International School is an inclusive, K-12 international school and the only IB continuum school in Osaka City, serving over 300 students from 40 nationalities. It provides a high-quality, inquiry-based education designed to empower students to become future leaders.

Teaching approach

Programmes

The school offers the full International Baccalaureate (IB) continuum, including the Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP), and Diploma Programme (DP). The curriculum is taught in English, with all students required to take two language courses, such as English, Japanese, or Korean. In the DP, the school also offers Language A: School-Supported Self-Taught (SSST) alternative courses.

Learning support

A dedicated language and support team assists emerging English communicators through methods such as co-teaching, small group or 1:1 instruction, scaffolded assignments, and differentiated assessments. Admissions

Osaka YMCA International School operates a rolling admissions process for its Kindergarten to Grade 12 programmes, provided vacancies exist. The application process is conducted online and includes document screening, online testing (Reading for Kindergarten–Grade 11; Math for Grades 7–11), and principal interviews. The school welcomes students of all nationalities, provided families are committed to an English-language international curriculum. Applications for the 2026-2027 school year close on March 6th.

About the campus

The school operates across two campuses in Osaka. The Nakatsu Campus, the original site, serves Early Childhood, Primary Years, and lower Middle Years students, featuring classrooms, a dedicated Early Childhood Center, science, music, and art rooms, a gymnasium, a field, and a rooftop swimming pool. The Tosabori Campus, opened in 2020, houses upper Middle Years and Diploma Programme students, offering state-of-the-art science and design labs, a library, a music studio, a robotics workspace, and an auditorium.

Co-curriculars

The school offers a variety of after-school programs, including clubs, robotics, and athletics. Additionally, students participate in service learning and CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) projects, which provide opportunities to engage with the community and develop leadership skills. The school also hosts an annual International Festival.
