Founded in 1514, the school is a Christian foundation that emphasizes a holistic, family-centered approach to education. Its ethos is driven by the values of Courage, Truth, and Trust, which are supported by nine virtues including resilience, integrity, creativity, and compassion. The school aims to create a "greenhouse, not a hot house" environment that stretches and challenges pupils as unique individuals while fostering social responsibility and adaptability.

Programmes

The academic programme spans from Nursery and Prep School (ages 4–11) through to Senior School (ages 11–16) and Sixth Form (ages 16–18). The curriculum is broad and balanced, with specialist teaching in subjects like music beginning in Reception. Senior students follow a GCSE curriculum, while Sixth Form entry requires a minimum of six GCSE passes, including four at grade 6 or above. The school also offers academic extension programmes, such as the Oxbridge Club, to stretch high-achieving students.

Outcomes

Pupils are prepared for life-long learning and future success, with many students progressing to university, including Oxbridge. The school maintains a strong alumni network through the Old Pocklingtonian Association, which provides careers mentoring and support. Recent sporting achievements include the U13 rugby team’s unbeaten performance at the Rosslyn Park National Schools Sevens and the equestrian team’s success as NSEA National Champions.
