RTU International School of Science and Technology

The school aims to empower students to become inventive problem-solvers and agents of global change through a STEAM-focused, experiential learning environment.

The school offers a three-year, English-language programme following the Cambridge International AS & A Levels curriculum with a strong emphasis on STEAM subjects. Core subjects include English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Global Perspectives & Research, Digital Media & Design, and Latvian studies. The programme prepares students for university studies and offers the Cambridge AICE Diploma and the Cambridge International Project Qualification (Cambridge IPQ).

The school provides a holistic support system, including English language learner support, guidance counselling, and college and career counselling (1 hour/week). It utilizes the EMU system to monitor classroom dynamics and student well-being. Qualified psychologists and learning specialists are available to assist students with individual learning needs.

The school requires an online application, a 50 EUR application fee, and the Cambridge CEM assessment. Applicants must have no grade below 6 (on a 10-point scale) from 9th grade and participate in an English interview. Tuition is billed semi-annually, annually, or once per three years, with additional costs for a one-time admission fee, a yearly capital fee, and Cambridge exam fees. Discounts are available for high-achieving students, siblings, and children of Riga Technical University employees.

The school holds an Open House Day on 9 May and an entrance test on 29 May, 2026. The academic year follows a three-year programme structure for grades 10-12.

Located on the Riga Technical University (RTU) campus in Ķīpsala, the school shares resources with the RTU Engineering High School. Facilities include a chemistry laboratory equipped for organic synthesis and analytical chemistry, a physics classroom with digital sensors, and a Virtual Reality lab. Students have access to 3D printers and RTU dormitories for boarding, which are located a 5-minute walk away.

The school offers after-school activities, which are included in the tuition fee (excluding those provided by outsourced partners). Students are encouraged to participate in external activities, including science events, conferences, and international Olympiads. Merchandise is available for students to showcase school spirit.
