Sailan International School

Founded in 1994, the school aims to provide value-based education within an Islamic environment while promoting Sri Lankan values. It seeks to produce competent, disciplined citizens who are prepared for both national and global arenas through innovative, modern teaching methods. The institution operates as a non-profit entity, striving to be accessible to students from all social strata.

The school follows the local Sri Lankan syllabus delivered in the English language. The academic programme spans from Nursery to Grade 13, with the Advanced Level curriculum offering streams in Mathematics, Science, and Commerce. The school emphasizes critical and creative thinking over rote learning to prepare students for future technological and creative career paths.

The school’s leadership, including the principal and deputy principals, focuses on monitoring and mentoring each student. Teachers are encouraged to create participative learning situations that inculcate life skills and provide support to help students overcome their individual shortcomings.

The campus features modern classrooms, science laboratories, and computer laboratories. To support its gender-separated educational structure, the school provides dedicated classrooms, IT rooms, laboratories, and libraries for female students. The grounds also include play areas for various sporting activities.

The school hosts over 10 associations and clubs, including a Literary Union, Media Club, IT Club, Art Circle, Western Band, Prefects’ Guild, Muslim Majlis, and Scouts. Students are assigned to one of three houses—Badr, Uhad, or Hijra—to compete in annual inter-house competitions. A wide range of sporting activities is also available to the student body.
