The school offers an all-through education from Nursery (starting at age 1) through to Year 11. The academic programme is designed to provide a continuous, uninterrupted learning journey without the need for external entrance exams like the 11+. The school reports strong outcomes, including recent positive ISI inspection results across its Nursery, Prep, and Senior divisions. Sancton Wood School admits pupils from 1 to 16 years of age. The admissions process involves an assessment to ensure students will learn happily within the school environment, though the school does not select by ability alone. As part of the Dukes Education family, the school offers a guaranteed entry policy at key transition points—Nursery, Reception, Year 7, and Year 12—subject to place availability and the child's ability to thrive within the school's ethos. Priority is generally given to siblings, and applications are considered for any entry point throughout the year.

The school year runs from September to July and is divided into three terms: Michaelmas, Lent, and Summer. The Nursery operates on an all-year-round basis, remaining open for 48 weeks per year. Term dates include scheduled half-term breaks in October, February, and May/June, with a Christmas holiday period between the Michaelmas and Lent terms.

Sancton Wood operates across three distinct city-centre sites in Cambridge: the Nursery School on Station Road, the Pre-Prep and Prep School on St. Paul’s Road, and the Senior School on Bateman Street. The Senior School site underwent a significant investment in 2019 to enhance facilities and increase capacity. The school provides hot lunches and mid-morning snacks for pupils, which are included in the fees.

The school provides a wide-ranging enrichment programme that extends beyond the classroom, including STEM activities, sports, and the arts. Pupils have opportunities to participate in leadership roles such as School Council representatives, Prefects, House Captains, Literacy Leaders, and Anti-Bullying Support Team members. Additionally, the school offers a holiday programme for students aged 4–14, featuring a variety of activities across its city-centre sites.
