Shenley Brook End School

The school operates under the belief that character is as important as qualifications, guided by the core values of being kind, working hard, and being respectful. It employs an 'Attitude, Skills and Knowledge' (ASK) framework to develop confident, independent thinkers. This includes the 'TENSILE' skills framework—Teamwork, Expression, Numeracy, Solving Problems, Independence, Literacy, and Enquiry—which aims to stretch students' capabilities for success in and beyond school.

The curriculum covers a broad range of subjects including Art, Business Studies, Computing, Design & Technology, Drama, English, Food Preparation and Nutrition, Geography, History, Life Skills, Mathematics, Media and Film Studies, Modern Foreign Languages, Music, Physical Education, Psychology, Religious Education, Science, and Sociology. The school also offers the 5D Bacc and participates in the MK Learning 2050 project. Sixth Form provision is available, with specific transition tasks provided for incoming Year 12 and Year 13 students.

In 2024, the school recorded a Progress 8 score of -0.2 and an Attainment 8 score of 46.8. Approximately 48% of pupils achieved a grade 5 or above in GCSE English and Maths, with 12.7% of pupils entering the English Baccalaureate (EBacc). Following Key Stage 4, 100% of students transitioned into further education or employment.

Additionally, the school offers services for students requiring English as an Additional Language (EAL) support and maintains a Wellbeing Hub to provide mental health and pastoral services. The school manages its own in-year admissions for Years 7–11, though it is frequently oversubscribed. For Year 7 entry, the school offers up to 10% of places (24 spots) based on sports aptitude in netball or basketball, assessed through agility and hand-eye coordination tests. Students with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) must apply through the Local Authority Special Educational Needs Team rather than the school directly. Admission is strictly based on chronological age, and applicants must provide proof of residency.

The academic year is divided into three terms: Autumn, Spring, and Summer. The Autumn term typically runs from early September to mid-December, the Spring term from early January to late March, and the Summer term from mid-April to mid-July. The school calendar includes scheduled Inset days for staff training and standard bank holidays.

The campus is located in Shenley Brook End, Milton Keynes. It features dedicated spaces for a wide range of subjects, including art, design and technology, music, and physical education. The school also maintains facilities for its sports programmes, such as those used by the MK5D Basketball Academy.
