Sir Manasseh Meyer International School (SMMIS) is an academically rigorous, non-profit international school in Singapore that provides a values-based education from nursery through Grade 12. It is the only Jewish primary and secondary school in Southeast Asia, welcoming students of all faiths and backgrounds into a diverse, intimate community.

Teaching approach

The school is guided by a Growth Mindset and a "Culture of Thinking," aiming to nurture enquiring minds through an ethical foundation rooted in Jewish values. It emphasizes social action, or "Tikkun Olam" (repairing the world), and encourages students to see themselves as global citizens who are independent, resilient, and collaborative. The school fosters an inclusive environment that celebrates diversity across more than 30 nationalities.

Programmes

The school offers a bespoke curriculum blending the British National Curriculum for Literacy and the Singapore Maths approach with the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) and International Middle Years Curriculum (IMYC). Secondary students in Grades 9-10 pursue the Cambridge iGCSE qualification, while the Pre-School follows principles inspired by Reggio Emilia. Modern foreign languages include Mandarin, taught via the Youth Chinese Curriculum, and Hebrew, offered through tracks such as Talam or the Ulpan programme for beginners.

Outcomes

The school reports strong academic performance, noting that in 2023, over half of its students received A*-A grades in their iGCSEs, with 87% of the class obtaining a B grade or above. Graduates are encouraged to become responsible global citizens who embody values such as social justice, kindness, and resilience.
