Founded by Mr. Achmad Zaky, the school is built on a legacy of knowledge, resilience, and leadership, with the name "Rushd" meaning "highly intelligent." Its educational philosophy emphasizes holistic development, integrity, respect, innovation, and critical thinking. The school aims to cultivate well-rounded, faithful, and innovative leaders who possess a global competitive edge.

The school integrates the Cambridge curriculum with the Indonesian national curriculum to provide a balanced education. The Cambridge component emphasizes English, Science, and Mathematics, while the national curriculum covers subjects such as Indonesian, Civics, History, Religion, and Sports. The academic program focuses on fostering critical thinking through research, hands-on activities, and real-world applications.

Graduates have successfully continued their education at leading universities across Indonesia. Additionally, alumni have secured international university placements through programs such as the Garuda Scholarship. The school operates a formal admission process known as the Sistem Penerimaan Murid Baru (SPMB) for students entering from grade 9. Applicants must be Indonesian citizens who have never repeated a grade and must meet minimum report card requirements of 80 for the Regular Track and 85 for the Achievement Track in Mathematics, Science, and English. The selection process includes academic testing and interviews, with Achievement Track candidates required to submit evidence of accomplishments in academics, sports, arts, or leadership.

Communal spaces include the school lobby, known as the Pinnacle Stage, which serves as a venue for performances and celebrations, and a trophy display area.
