St Hilda’s CE High School is the only co-educational 11–18 Church of England school in Liverpool. It provides a values-led education within a modern, purpose-built campus in Sefton Park.

Teaching approach

St Hilda’s is a Church of England school rooted in six core values: wisdom, hope, community, dignity, equality, and diversity. The school operates under the principles of being 'Ready, Respectful, and Safe,' aiming to nurture students to achieve beyond expectations within an inclusive, faith-based environment. Daily life is underpinned by a commitment to collective worship and the belief that every student can flourish academically, spiritually, and socially.

Programmes

The school offers a comprehensive curriculum across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, with a strong emphasis on 'powerful knowledge' and Rosenshine’s Principles of Instruction. Key Stage 3 includes core subjects like English, Maths, Science, RE/PSHE, and a range of languages, while Key Stage 4 offers GCSE options including Triple Science, Business Studies, and various arts and humanities. The Post-16 curriculum provides a wide selection of A-level and BTEC subjects, alongside enrichment opportunities and the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ).

Outcomes

The school sets ambitious, evidence-based targets using FFT20 benchmarks to challenge students while recognizing individual variation. Students are assessed through a combination of formative and summative methods, with GCSE results reported on the 9–1 scale and A-level/vocational qualifications reported using standard national grading systems. The school’s 2025 SIAMS inspection highlighted the school's success in fostering spiritual growth and academic progress.
