The Global Academy

The school is guided by four core values: 'Think Big,' 'Keep it Simple,' 'Own it,' and 'Better together.' It aims to bridge the gap between education and the media industry by fostering ambition, integrity, and responsibility in a diverse, inclusive environment.

The curriculum integrates core GCSE subjects—Maths, English, and Science—with specialised vocational training in broadcast and digital media. Sixth Form students can pursue UAL Extended Diplomas, while the Year 14 programme offers a professional diploma pathway designed as an alternative to university for aspiring freelancers and entrepreneurs.

The school reports that 99% of its students progress to further education, employment, apprenticeships, or training. Alumni have secured roles at major media organisations such as Global, the BBC, Sky, TikTok, and Google.

The school provides dedicated SEND support and pastoral care, including a team of inclusion managers, student support practitioners, and a medical lead. It emphasizes personal development and wellbeing, offering strategies to support students' mental, physical, and emotional health.

Global Academy is a non-selective, state-funded school that welcomes students from all backgrounds. It accepts applications for entry into Year 10, Year 12, and Year 14, with the application process supported by a dedicated guide and admissions team.

The academic year is divided into three terms: Autumn, Spring, and Summer. The school day typically runs from 8:45 AM to 3:30 PM for Key Stage 4, with variations on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, while Key Stage 5 students follow a 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM schedule.

Located at The Old Vinyl Factory in Hayes, the campus features industry-standard media facilities, including radio, TV, and music recording studios, editing suites, and a gaming studio. The site also includes a 250-seat main theatre, a 100-seat small lecture theatre, a sports hall, a four-story atrium, and a restaurant called G:Feast.

Students participate in a wide range of enrichment activities, including sports, drama, and the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. The school also operates 'G:Ventures,' an optional programme for internal students, and provides opportunities to run radio and TV stations, curate events, and engage in industry-led projects.
