Curriculum
Thomas Tallis School is a large, comprehensive community school for students aged 11-18, located in Greenwich. It is committed to a broad, balanced curriculum that emphasizes challenge, creativity, and inclusive values.
Curriculum
Teaching approach
The school’s vision is to provide an education that enables students to understand the world and change it for the better. It promotes a liberal and inclusive community that values 'Tallis Habits'—being inquisitive, collaborative, persistent, disciplined, and imaginative. The school expects students to demonstrate kindness, respect, fairness, honesty, and optimism within a hard-working atmosphere.
Programmes
The curriculum is structured around 'Threshold Concepts' and includes Key Stage 3 (Years 7-9), Key Stage 4 (Years 10-11), and a large Sixth Form (Post-16). Subject areas include Business & ICT, Computing, English & Philosophy, Design & Technology, Humanities & Social Sciences, Languages, Mathematics, Performing Arts, Physical Education, Science, and Visual & Media Arts. The Sixth Form offers a combination of A-level and Level 3 BTEC courses, while Key Stage 4 students may also pursue BTEC qualifications, such as the Level 1/2 Tech Award in Sport.
Outcomes
The Sixth Form achieves high levels of university entry, with many students securing places at Russell Group universities and Oxbridge. Additionally, over 35 students annually progress to competitive places at art and performing arts colleges. The school holds Artsmark Platinum status and has received multiple curriculum awards from the Prince's Teaching Institute.
Student support
Learning support
The school provides extensive support for students with special educational needs and disabilities, including 86 students with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and over 400 students receiving SEN support. Specialist provision includes the Support Centre for Autism and Language Impairment (SCALI), a Deaf Support Centre, a Learning Support Unit, and dedicated English as an Additional Language (EAL) support. Pastoral care is managed by a non-teaching team, with additional guidance provided through the Tallis Futures programme.

Admissions
Admissions for Year 7 are managed through the Royal Borough of Greenwich, and the school encourages prospective families to attend open events during the Autumn term. Once a place is offered, families complete an online transition form to facilitate the enrolment process. The school provides a comprehensive transition booklet and holds specific events to support new students joining the community.
Calendar
The school operates a 32.5-hour compulsory school week, running from 08:30 to 15:05. The academic year includes a series of scheduled parents' evenings for each year group, typically held between 15:45 and 18:45, and a structured reporting schedule where updates are uploaded to the MyChildatSchool (MCAS) portal.
Facilities
About the campus
Opened in 2011, the campus features a purpose-built facility designed for up to 2,000 students. Sports facilities include a gymnasium, a dojo, and a shared-use sports centre with Olympic legacy equipment. The school also maintains dedicated spaces for its specialist units, including the Support Centre for Autism and Language Impairment (SCALI) and the Deaf Support Centre.

The school offers a wide range of extracurricular activities, including the Duke of Edinburgh Award and the Arts Award. Sports clubs available include basketball, netball, gymnastics, athletics, football, rugby, table tennis, badminton, and cross-country running.
