Valrico Academy is a tuition-free public charter school serving students in Kindergarten through 5th Grade. Enrollment is conducted through an annual open enrollment period and a lottery system if the number of applicants exceeds available vacancies. Preference is given to siblings, children of employees or governing board members, and children of active-duty military families. Once offered a seat, families must complete a registration process within seven days, providing documentation such as birth certificates, immunization records, and proof of residency.

The school operates on a standard academic calendar, typically beginning in August. Daily school hours are 7:30 AM to 2:00 PM for Kindergarten through 3rd Grade, and 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM for 4th and 5th Grade. Located in Riverview, Florida, the campus features a library and a "Makerspace," which provides modern technology and materials for student-centered inquiry and constructionist learning. The school also maintains a cafeteria that offers nutritional services and an a la carte program.

The school offers a variety of athletic programs, including volleyball, cross country, soccer, cheerleading, court hockey, flag football, and basketball.
