Arco Academy

Arco Academy operates on a student-centred, holistic, and therapeutic model that prioritises wellbeing alongside academic achievement. It embraces neurodiversity and aims to unlock the potential of every student through personalised learning, high expectations, and the use of sport as a catalyst for personal growth, resilience, and discipline. The school delivers a curriculum aligned with the National Curriculum for Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, offering four distinct provisions: a co-ed group, a girls-only therapeutic programme, a higher-needs group, and a flexible hybrid learning model. Core subjects include English, Maths, Science (Biology), PE, RS, PSHE, and Personal Development, with a creative carousel covering Art, Photography, Music, Citizenship, Technology, and Modern Foreign Languages. In Key Stage 4, students typically work towards five GCSEs or equivalent vocational qualifications, with opportunities for additional options and functional skills qualifications in English and Maths.

The academy reports that 100% of its alumni leave with GCSEs and vocational qualifications. Graduates move on to a variety of paths, including further education, training, or employment. The school focuses on ensuring students are equipped with the skills and confidence necessary for their next steps after leaving the academy.

Arco Academy provides extensive support for neurodiversity, including ADHD, ASD, SEMH, and dyslexia. A dedicated therapeutic team, consisting of a psychotherapist, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, and a school counsellor, provides one-to-one and integrated interventions. Additionally, students are supported by mentors who guide them through their educational and personal development.

Arco Academy accepts referrals through local authorities and school referral processes. The admissions process includes a thorough needs assessment for each student upon entry to ensure appropriate placement and support. Prospective families can access referral forms and information regarding bursaries and scholarships directly through the school.

The school maintains a comprehensive calendar of events, including term dates, holidays, and specific activities such as sports competitions, workshops, and student wellbeing days. Parents and carers can subscribe to the school's digital calendar via Outlook, Google Calendar, or iPhone to receive automatic updates on diary dates.

The school is located at the Camberwell Leisure Centre, which provides access to gym facilities and a swimming pool for daily sports lessons. The campus environment is designed to be safe and welcoming, supporting both academic study and therapeutic interventions. Administrative and exam-related operations are also supported by facilities on Harvey Road.

Enrichment activities are integrated into the school experience to enhance cultural capital and student passions. Offerings include a range of clubs, an annual drama project in partnership with the Young Vic, and various sports fixtures and competitions.
