Bannister Academy
Updated July 2026
Curriculum
Bannister Academy is an IB World Diploma Programme school that provides a holistic, classical education designed to produce morally upright and competent graduates. It integrates the Trivium and Paideia methods to prepare students for local and global society.
Curriculum
Teaching approach
Bannister Academy is guided by three pillars: the partnership of the child, parent, and teacher; the development of a well-trained mind through the classical Trivium (grammar, logic, and rhetoric); and the Paideia classroom approach, which emphasizes the pursuit of knowledge and values. The school's motto, 'transcendere' (to climb or overcome), reflects its commitment to helping students reach their full human potential. The institution views education as a holistic, character-centered endeavor where teachers serve as character educators and parents are actively involved in the formation process.
Programmes
The academic programme is structured around a K-12 curriculum that incorporates the classical Trivium and the IB Diploma Programme. The curriculum emphasizes humanities, sciences, and practical arts, with Latin taught to foster critical and analytical thinking. The school also features a formal Mentoring Program and a Personal Development Series to support character formation and individual growth.
Student support
Learning support
The school considers applicants with learning support needs on an equal basis, provided they are suitable for mainstream education and the school has the necessary resources. Each class may accommodate 2 to 3 students with learning support needs, such as speech delay, ADHD, autism, or physical impairments. Accommodations are provided based on individual requirements.
