Founded in 1966, the school is a private international institution inspired by the spirit of the Opus Dei, focusing on academic excellence, Christian values, and personalized formation. It employs a mixed-gender model in Infant Education and differentiated education for boys from Primary Education onwards, emphasizing character development and service to society.

The school offers a complete educational pathway including Infant, Primary, Secondary, and Baccalaureate levels, as well as Vocational Training (Formación Profesional). It integrates the International Baccalaureate (IB) methodology—specifically the PYP in Primary and MYP in Secondary—alongside the national curriculum. Vocational Training includes both intermediate and higher-level cycles in areas such as administration, finance, and informatics, with extensive internship opportunities through over 500 corporate partnerships and a Dual Vocational Training option.

Retamar consistently achieves results in the EvAU (university entrance exams) that exceed the average for the Community of Madrid, with a 100% pass rate and many students achieving high scores. Approximately 80% of students graduate with a C1/C2 level of English, and the school has a long history of over 11,000 graduates since its founding.

The school provides personalized attention through a preceptor system for each student and a dedicated orientation department. It offers academic support for students requiring reinforcement as well as specific programmes to accompany and challenge high-performing students.

The admission process consists of six steps: an initial visit to the facilities, submission of an application form, a personal interview, confirmation of interest, receipt of a digital admission letter via the 'Retamar In Advance' programme, and a final welcome interview to formalize enrollment. The school maintains a collaborative relationship with Orvalle and Alegra schools, including a shuttle service between the campuses to assist with family logistics.

Located in Pozuelo de Alarcón, the campus features modern, functional infrastructure including football pitches, a covered swimming pool, tennis and padel courts, and multi-use sports spaces. The school offers a wide range of extracurricular activities designed to foster creativity, discipline, and teamwork, including football, judo, basketball, tennis, padel, hockey on skates, athletics, music, and theatre. Additionally, students participate in debate tournaments and international exchange programmes with schools in Australia, the United States, South Africa, and the Philippines.
