Han Academy

Han Academy is a non-profit school that seeks to integrate Chinese and global educational traditions. Its core values are benevolence, scholarship, and a love for life, with a mission to inspire creativity and critical thinking while nurturing responsible global citizens. The school emphasizes a bilingual environment, utilizing both Mandarin and English as mediums of instruction.

The school offers a comprehensive curriculum from Year 1 to Year 13. The primary section (Y1–Y6) integrates the Chinese National Curriculum with Cambridge and IB elements, while the lower secondary section (Y7–Y9) combines school-based curricula with the Cambridge Lower Secondary framework. For senior years, students may pursue Cambridge IGCSE, Pearson Edexcel IGCSE, Cambridge International A-Levels, Pearson Edexcel IAL, or the IB Diploma Programme.

Graduates have achieved success in international examinations, including the IB Diploma Programme and Cambridge International AS & A Levels, with students receiving awards such as the Outstanding Cambridge Learner Award and Sir Edward Youde Memorial Prizes. Students frequently excel in regional and international competitions in mathematics, science, literature, and the arts. Many alumni progress to higher education institutions in Hong Kong and internationally.

The school employs a homeroom tutor system to provide mental counseling and alleviate student pressure. It maintains a favorable teacher-student ratio to facilitate effective interaction and individual guidance. Additionally, the school implements a child protection policy that includes a zero-tolerance approach to bullying and harm, supported by a dedicated child protection group.

Han Academy accepts applications for Years 1–13 on a rolling basis. Admissions decisions are based on a student's academic level, conduct, interview performance, non-academic achievements, and family background, with priority given to holders of capital bonds and siblings of current students. Prospective families are encouraged to attend school tours or introductory meetings to learn about the school's philosophy and procedures.

The school operates on a two-term academic year, with unified tests conducted before the end of each term. The school day includes a daily morning 'Reading Time' to foster literacy. Throughout the year, the school hosts various events, including Service Weeks, sports days, student-led conferences, and cultural celebrations.

The 2,200-square-metre campus includes 12 classrooms, 3 laboratories, 2 art rooms, a music and dancing studio, a library, an assembly hall, and an indoor playground. Each classroom is equipped with a 75-inch touch-screen smartboard, and the school provides iPads for activities such as coding, programming, and robotics.

Following IB standards, the school organizes extracurricular activities (ECA) across the dimensions of Creativity, Activity, and Service. Offerings include drawing, sketching, board games, chess, robotics, guitar, African drumming, origami, badminton, Chinese debate, book clubs, public speaking, Chinese martial arts, and violin. Students also participate in community service initiatives such as volunteer teaching and visiting senior citizens.
