The school aims to nurture 'Learned Champions with Character'—champions in sport, for sports, and in life. It emphasizes a holistic approach that balances academic finesse with sporting excellence, guided by the core values of respect, integrity, responsibility, excellence, and resilience. The institution serves as the education arm of Singapore’s High Performance Sport System, empowering student-athletes to achieve high-performance goals while developing holistically.

The school offers secondary programmes leading to GCE qualifications and through-train post-secondary pathways, including the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) and polytechnic diplomas in partnership with Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Republic Polytechnic, and Temasek Polytechnic. Sports academies include badminton, bowling, fencing, football, multi-sport, netball, shooting, swimming, table tennis, and track and field. The school is accredited as an Athlete Friendly Education Centre, allowing high-performing student-athletes to complete the IBDP over an extended three-year duration.

The school provides athlete-friendly academic support, including small group teaching to optimize attention and flexible structures such as deferment and exemption provisions for training and competitions. Student-athletes have access to blended learning, including online synchronous and asynchronous materials, to maintain academic progress while traveling. Additionally, each student-athlete is assigned an academy mentor who provides education and career guidance throughout their secondary school years.

The school offers multiple entry points, including admission to Secondary 1, mid-stream admission for Secondary 2 to 5, and pathways for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) and polytechnic diploma programmes. Prospective student-athletes undergo a selection and trial process, with specific criteria for Singaporeans, returning Singaporeans, and non-Singaporeans. The school operates on a modular system, with eight modules per academic year. Parents of secondary and IBDP student-athletes can access the school calendar through the Parents Gateway app.

The campus features four boarding blocks—Olympus, Athena, Apollo, and Ares Lodges—with shared dormitories, Wi-Fi, and in-house laundry services. On-site amenities include the Rally and ROAR Café, which also serves as a uniform and stationery store, and various sports training facilities. The school is located at 1 Champions Way, Singapore, and is accessible via the Woodlands South MRT station and local bus services.

The school provides student development programmes designed to nurture character, leadership, and citizenship alongside athletic and academic pursuits. Student-athletes have access to recreational facilities, including void decks for relaxation, board games at 'The Chill Connection', and street football and basketball courts.
