Teaching approach

The academic programme follows the Classical Core Curriculum™, which emphasizes history, literature, the great ideas, and the study of Latin. The curriculum includes Religion, Latin, Literature, Phonics, Reading, Grammar, Handwriting, Dictation, Spelling, Composition, Poetry, History, Mathematics, Science, Music, Art, and Drama. Writing instruction utilizes the Institute for Excellence in Writing (IEW) method, while music education incorporates the Ward Method of Music Instruction. The school also offers a hybrid learning option for high school students.

Co-curriculars

The school encourages student participation in the National Junior Classical League, which promotes interest in the language, literature, and culture of ancient Greece and Rome. Additionally, the academy incorporates traditional Catholic devotions and student-led prayer, such as the Rosary, into the daily life of the school.

    Mr. John HendersonPrincipal, Religion/History/Latin

    Mr. Henderson graduated from The Catholic University of America and joined St. Anthony Academy in 2021. He is currently pursuing a Master of Catholic School Leadership at the University of Dallas and is passionate about classical Catholic education.

  • Mrs. Jane BurtonReligion/Math/Science

    Mrs. Burton graduated from Hillsdale College and earned an M.Ed. in Mathematics Education from the University of Virginia. She helped found St. Anthony Academy in 2003 and served as its principal for many years.

  • Mrs. Theresa KleemanLower School

    Mrs. Kleeman received a B.S. in Biochemistry from Northern Michigan University and has worked in research at LSU and Duke University. She joined the St. Anthony Academy staff in 2012 and is currently in charge of the lower school.

  • Mrs. Mary Lou LoftusUpper School

    Mrs. Loftus is a founding member of the Academy and served as its first principal. She holds a B.A. in Philosophy from Christendom College and currently teaches writing, literature, and religion.

  • Dr. John Corso
    Dr. John CorsoCivics, American Government

    Dr. Corso is the president and CEO of Strategent Corporation and teaches at Georgetown’s School of Continuing Studies. He is a retired U.S. Navy Commander and holds a doctorate in public administration from the University of Southern California.

  • Mr. Daniel GrahamUpper School History and Logic

    Mr. Graham holds an MBA from the University of Alabama and has 15 years of experience in documentation projects for the U.S. Army and consulting firms. He is an award-winning author of five science fiction novels.

  • Miss Annie LynchLower School

    Miss Lynch graduated from Thomas Aquinas College in 2025 with a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts. She has experience working for a Pennsylvania State Senator and helping on a family farm.
