St. Francis Xavier Secondary School

St. Francis Xavier Catholic Secondary School strives to embody the virtues of faith, love, hope, peace, and service. The school is dedicated to excellence in Catholic education, aiming to provide students with a purpose and hope for life. The community celebrates the feast day of its namesake, St. Francis Xavier, on December 3 each year.

The school offers the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme, including a Grade 9 Pre-IB option. Specialized pathways include Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) programs in Health & Wellness and Hospitality & Tourism, as well as Cooperative Education. The curriculum covers a broad spectrum of subjects, including arts, business, Canadian and world studies, computer studies, English, French, guidance, health and physical education, mathematics, religious education, science, social sciences, and technological education.

The school provides support for underserved student populations and offers the Realize & Achieve Individualized Skills & Experiences (RAISE) program. Additionally, learning strategies courses are available to assist students with skills for success in secondary school and beyond.

Registration for the 2026-2027 school year requires the submission of a completed registration package to the school's guidance office. Students from designated feeder schools register directly through their elementary school, while students from other boards or those residing outside the school boundary must follow specific procedures, including potential flex boundary applications. New students to the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board must also complete an online registration process through the board's website. A program activity fee is required for all students.

The school operates on a standard academic year, with professional activity (PA) days scheduled for staff development. The school community observes a monthly virtue, beginning with 'Faith' in September. Specific registration dates for the 2026-2027 school year are held in late January.

The campus, located in Mississauga, features a three-floor, twenty-two room addition completed in 2001. The school site includes a library with access to online databases, e-books, and research resources, as well as a childcare centre. Instructional spaces support a variety of departments, including arts, sciences, and technological education.

The school fosters a wide range of student-led academic, athletic, and artistic extracurricular activities. Students participate in mentorship programs and organize fundraisers to support various local and global causes. The school has also achieved EcoSchools Platinum status.
