St. James Catholic Global Learning Centre

The St. James Catholic School community is Christ-centered and committed to excellence, justice, and hope. The school aims to build a community based on openness, equality, respect, and a sense of belonging, where every student is known, valued, and supported. The mission involves students, parents, staff, and the church working together to nurture the Catholic faith and acknowledge the uniqueness of the diverse community.

The school offers a comprehensive curriculum for students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8, with a strong focus on core subjects and individual student needs. Academic offerings include Vocal Music (Kindergarten to Grade 5), Instrumental Music (Grades 6 to 8), Core French (Grades 1 to 8), and English as a Second Language (ESL) classes for students in Grades 4 to 8. The school also provides an enrichment program for identified gifted students and reading intervention through the Lexia program.

The school recognizes that students learn at different rates and provides support through modified, accommodated, or enriched lessons tailored to individual needs. Programs are developed and implemented by a School-Based Support Team (SBST) and a special services team through Joint Team Meetings (JTM). Additionally, the school offers an enrichment program for identified gifted students and the Lexia reading intervention program.

St. James Catholic School follows the Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB) admission process. Prospective families can complete an online application, and the school provides an Elementary School Locator tool to assist with finding the appropriate school. The school welcomes students who comply with the Board’s admissions policy, regardless of their parents' immigration status.

The school operates on the TCDSB school year calendar, which typically runs from early September to late June. The 2026-2027 school year includes 194 school days, with breaks for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Family Day, Mid-Winter Break, and Easter. The calendar also includes seven Professional Activity (PA) days dedicated to activities such as parent-teacher conferences and assessment, evaluation, and reporting.

Located at 30 Humbercrest Boulevard in York, Ontario, the school provides a safe and welcoming environment. The campus facilities support a range of activities, including physical education classes and daily physical activity.
