Stone Lodge Therapeutic School

Stone Lodge Therapeutic School is built on a core ethos of care, understanding, and ambition, operating on the belief that good mental health is essential for academic success. The school prioritizes creating a safe, supportive environment where pupils are encouraged to be their true selves, recognizing that emotional well-being and learning are deeply intertwined. It aims to help students discover their individual identities, build resilience, and develop the skills necessary for adulthood.

The curriculum follows a progressive framework designed to accommodate individual learning paces, moving from Entry Levels to Functional Skills and culminating in GCSEs. Key Stage 3 pupils work toward Entry Level qualifications in English, Science, and Mathematics, while Year 9 students complete Functional Skills Level 1. Key Stage 4 students pursue GCSEs alongside BTEC and vocational qualifications at Levels 1 and 2, with a strong emphasis on literacy as a foundational skill.

The school employs an integrated therapeutic ethos, utilizing a "Pyramid of Need" framework to address the unique requirements of each student. A dedicated therapy team, including speech and language therapists and occupational therapists, works alongside educators to support pupils' emotional well-being. Additionally, the school provides targeted literacy interventions and individual assessments to bridge learning gaps.

Stone Lodge Therapeutic School admits pupils aged 11-17 who hold an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) with primary needs in Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) or Autism Spectrum Conditions. Placements are managed through Local Authority consultations, and the school conducts a robust assessment process—including meeting the child—to ensure the environment is a suitable fit. Once a placement is agreed upon, the school develops a bespoke transition plan in collaboration with the family and relevant professionals.

The school operates on a termly basis, with specific term dates published for the 2025/26 and 2026/27 academic years. Governing body meetings are also held on a termly basis.

The school operates across two sites located in Kettering and Thrapston, with an additional facility at the Meadow Farm Learning Centre in Desborough. The campus provides a structured environment designed to support pupils with additional needs, including dedicated spaces for academic learning and therapeutic support.
