Daizawa International School is an international early childhood setting for children aged 12 months and older. It provides a project-based, thematic education designed to foster creativity, confidence, and global awareness.
Curriculum
Teaching approach
Daizawa International School is guided by the Reggio Emilia approach, which encourages children's natural sensitivity and spontaneous growth. The school focuses on nurturing the "richness of the heart" and developing the ability to think for oneself rather than simply memorizing information. Its mission is to help children become happy, confident, and adaptable world citizens who possess a lifelong love of learning.
Programmes
The school offers several age-based programs: the Sprout program (12 months to 3 years) focuses on sensory exploration and thematic projects; the Maple program (3 to 5 years) introduces country-based studies and in-depth explorations; and the Oak program (4 to 6 years) features child-led, international thematic discovery. Additionally, the school provides an After School program for English language development and a Pre-Preschool parent-child class. Through its sister school, Kids On Air, the institution also extends international educational opportunities to elementary-aged children.
Outcomes
The school aims to nurture children into successful world citizens who are confident, capable of independent thought, and able to communicate across cultures. Graduates move on to a variety of educational paths, including international schools as well as public and private Japanese elementary schools. To support ongoing community connection, the school maintains a Graduate’s Club for alumni to continue interacting with peers and teachers.
Student support
Learning support
The school emphasizes an approach that respects each child's unique personality, strengths, and interests. By maintaining a supportive environment, educators aim to build children's confidence and adaptability. The curriculum is designed to help students develop as active listeners who are caring, courageous, and culturally literate.
