Yokohama Christian School

Yokohama Christian School is a non-denominational, church-sponsored institution that provides a Christian and classical education. Its mission is to educate the whole child to live faithfully for God, with core values centered on responsibility, readiness, respect, and reverence. The school emphasizes a biblical worldview, aiming to shape the hearts and minds of students to reflect the character of Christ.

The school offers a preschool program for children aged 2 to 4, followed by an elementary curriculum for kindergarten through grade 5. The academic approach is classically inspired, with a strong emphasis on language arts—including reading, writing, speaking, and listening—and the development of reasoning skills. Instruction utilizes materials approved by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI).

The school operates on a two-semester system, with the 2026-2027 academic year running from August 17, 2026, to June 10, 2027. The calendar includes scheduled breaks for autumn, Christmas, and spring, alongside special community events such as a Fall Family Festival, a Christmas Concert, and an End of Year Concert. Summer school sessions are typically held in June and July.

Located in the historic Bluff area of Yokohama, the campus is situated near the Foreigner’s Cemetery and Motomachi Park. The school is housed on the corner of Yamate-dori and Daikan-zaka, with parking available for visitors. The facilities support a range of activities, including music, art, computer studies, and physical education.

The school offers a variety of clubs covering both academic and sports interests, including a choir club. Students also participate in special events and community-focused activities, such as the World Vision Water Walk and all-school worship services. Additionally, the school provides an enrichment program and an afternoon English course for students.
