The school’s educational philosophy is built on the 'Future Skills' vision, which aims to prepare pupils for a rapidly evolving world by fostering creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, and communication. The core values of 'Thrive', 'Innovate', and 'Endeavour' guide the community, encouraging pupils to develop resilience, emotional intelligence, and a curious mindset. The school utilizes a transformational teaching approach that prioritizes deep conceptual understanding over rote learning.

Programmes

The academic programme is structured across Little Downsend (nursery and pre-prep), the Junior School (ages 7–11), the Senior School (ages 11–16), and Downsend Sixth (ages 16–18). The curriculum integrates core subjects with STEAM and digital mastery, supported by 1-to-1 devices for pupils from Reception onwards.

Pupils move on to a variety of educational destinations, including St John’s, Reigate Grammar, Epsom College, and the school's own Downsend Sixth.
