Manor House School

The school’s philosophy is holistic, inclusive, aspirational, and progressive, guided by the mission statement: 'Be Ready, Be Respectful, Be Safe.' It operates on the belief that self-esteem, confidence, and emotional stability are improved through academic and holistic achievement, aiming to prepare pupils to be independent and responsible members of society.

The school offers a flexible, knowledge-rich, and skills-based curriculum that is sequenced to include aspects of the National Curriculum while remaining personalised to individual interests and SEND requirements. The programme covers linguistic, mathematical, physical, human, social, and creative areas of learning, alongside spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development. Pupils are supported through to Year 11 with a focus on college readiness, including careers advice and work experience, with further support available for those who require it into Years 12 and 13.

The school is a specialist provision that integrates academic learning with clinical therapy and wellbeing support. It caters to pupils aged 5 to 18 who hold an EHCP specifying social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, and may also support pupils with ASD or specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, and dyscalculia. A dedicated clinical lead and SENCO are part of the leadership team to oversee this integrated approach.

Admissions are managed through referrals from a pupil's Local Authority. Following an initial review of the pupil's Education and Health Care Plan (EHCP), prospective families are invited to visit the school for a tour, an introduction to key staff, and a meeting to discuss policies and the curriculum. Placement is confirmed once all parties agree that the school can meet the pupil's needs and that the family is committed to the placement.

The school operates on a termly basis, with information regarding specific term dates available through the school's official communications.

The school provides a structured and calm learning environment designed to be visually clear. The campus supports small-group learning, with class sizes typically limited to seven pupils, except for specific activities such as physical education where larger groups may be taught together.
