The École Internationale Franco-Japonaise (EIFJ) of Tokyo is a trilingual international school offering French, English, and Japanese programmes from nursery through high school. It is an authorized IB World School for the Primary Years Programme (PYP) that integrates the French national curriculum with international standards.

Teaching approach

The school's philosophy is rooted in trilingualism (French, English, and Japanese) and a commitment to nurturing each child's unique potential within a diverse, inclusive, and family-oriented community. It balances academic excellence with well-being and social responsibility, guided by values of respect, integrity, excellence, responsibility, and collaboration. The educational approach is student-centered, encouraging inquiry, critical thinking, and intercultural understanding.

Programmes

The school provides a continuum of education from nursery (ages 18 months to 3 years) through high school (ages 15 to 18). It offers two primary streams: a bilingual French-English stream (with Japanese) and an English stream (with Japanese). The academic framework combines the French Ministry of National Education curriculum, the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme, US Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts, and MEXT standards for Japanese language instruction.

Outcomes

The school aims to develop compassionate, open-minded, and internationally minded individuals who contribute to a sustainable world. Students are prepared for international pathways, with the curriculum designed to facilitate continuity into the French school system or other international institutions. The school emphasizes academic excellence, critical thinking, and multilingual proficiency in French, English, and Japanese.
