Languages
Jockey Club Sarah Roe School is an English-medium, all-through international school for students aged 5 to 19 with special educational needs. As part of the English Schools Foundation (ESF), it provides a personalised, bespoke curriculum tailored to the diverse needs of its learners.
Curriculum
Teaching approach
The school is committed to an inclusive, neuro-affirming environment that values diversity, equity, and neurodiversity. It operates under the vision of 'Everyone Happy, Everyone Engaged, Everyone Learning,' prioritising student well-being, dignity, and respect. The school adopts a 'spiky profile' approach, focusing on accommodating individual needs to allow student strengths and 'superpowers' to shine.
Programmes
The school offers a bespoke, pathway-driven curriculum built around six Global Competencies: Communication, Critical Thinking, Collaboration, Citizenship, Character, and Creativity. There are five distinct pathways: Foundation, Builders, Explorers, Life Skills, and Vocational. Subjects taught include Literacy, Numeracy, Independence, Citizenship, Relationship and Sexuality Education (RSE), Creative Arts, Physical Education, The World Around Me, Play, Recreation and Leisure, Vocational Education, and Digital Literacy. Teaching methodologies include Attention Autism, TEACCH, Total Communication, Colourful Semantics, and multisensory learning.
Outcomes
The school focuses on preparing students for life beyond the classroom, with a particular emphasis on vocational and independent living skills for post-16 learners. Through the Vocational Pathway, students engage in work experiences and career support, often connecting with industry partners. Alumni have successfully transitioned into roles within various NGOs and social enterprises.
Student support
Learning support
The school employs a dedicated therapy team consisting of two speech therapists, two occupational therapists, and a physiotherapist, with additional access to music and art therapy. These professionals collaborate with teachers and support staff to provide direct and indirect services in areas such as communication, motor skills, social interaction, self-care, sensory processing, and behaviour. The school utilises a tiered approach to therapy input and integrates therapeutic practices directly into subject teaching.

Admissions
Applications for special educational needs (SEN) provision at the school are managed through the English Schools Foundation (ESF) Centre. The process involves an Admissions and Review Process (ARP) to assess students and make placement recommendations in accordance with the ESF Levels of Adjustment Framework. Prospective parents and students are welcome to tour the school and its facilities by appointment.
Calendar
The school provides an annual calendar of events and school days. Specific dates for the 2025–26 and 2026–27 academic years are available through the school's online calendar.
Facilities
About the campus
Located in Ho Man Tin, Kowloon, the campus features eight classrooms and specialist facilities including a hydrotherapy pool, a soft playroom, and a sensory integration room. The school shares its campus with ESF King George V School and is in close proximity to ESF Kowloon Junior School. Students also have access to a gymnasium, hall, playground, and swimming pool for physical education.
Co-curriculars
Students participate in a variety of activities beyond the classroom, including school trips and vocational learning opportunities. The Student Council organises events such as discos, assemblies, and sustainability competitions, and facilitates a 'Buddy Bag' programme to foster peer friendships. Additionally, students have opportunities to engage in music and art, with talent showcased through whole-school events.
