St. Kilian’s aims to prepare students for life as citizens of Europe by setting challenging targets that cater to individual abilities. The school follows the Irish curriculum leading to the Junior and Leaving Certificate, while integrating a strong emphasis on the German language. It offers a parallel German curricular stream (Sek-I) for students capable of studying specific subjects through German. The educational journey spans from Kindergarten through to the completion of secondary education.

Graduates leave the school with a high proficiency in German, often exceeding the requirements of the Leaving Certificate. Students are prepared for university education in both Ireland and abroad, developing into articulate and self-assured young adults. The school provides supervised study sessions for secondary students from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday. After-school care is also available for children in the Kindergarten and Primary School. Guidance services are available to support students throughout their education.

The school admits students of all nationalities and religions, with no prior knowledge of German required for entry into Kindergarten, Primary School, or the first year of Secondary School. Applications for Kindergarten and Primary School are accepted year-round via a waiting list, while secondary admissions follow specific criteria outlined in the school's policy. An annual Open Day is held in October for prospective families to tour the campus and meet staff.

The school year typically begins in late August with a phased, staggered return for different year groups. The calendar includes scheduled breaks, term dates, and specific induction days for new students. Summer camps are also hosted on campus during the summer break.

The Clonskeagh campus features a multi-purpose hall (Lynn Hall), a library, and four state-of-the-art science laboratories. Sports facilities include a gymnasium, an all-weather soccer pitch, a hockey astro pitch, and three tennis courts. The school also provides dedicated art and music rooms, a canteen, and a study hall for supervised study sessions.

Students participate in a wide range of activities, including choir, music tuition, and various sports such as soccer, hockey, and tennis. The school maintains an active EU/MUN club and participates in European-focused initiatives like the Model European Council and Euroscola. Additionally, students engage in student exchanges, international projects, and fundraising events for local charities.
