St Mary’s is a full boarding school for girls aged 11 to 18, with a small number of places for local day boarders. The school admits approximately 65 pupils annually, with main entry points at 11+ (40 places), 13+ (20 places), and 16+ (5 places). Entry is determined by the school’s own entrance examinations, interviews, and reports from the candidate's current school. Registration is recommended at least two years prior to the intended year of entry.

The school operates on a three-term structure: Michaelmas, Lent, and Summer. Open Mornings are held four times per academic year, typically scheduled across these three terms.

Set in 55 acres of grounds, the campus includes a Chapel, which serves as the heart of the community.
