Ecole Internationale de Montreal Primaire
Secular
Updated July 2026
The École internationale de Montréal is a primary and secondary school dedicated exclusively to international education, making it the only institution in Quebec entirely devoted to this vocation. It operates as a school of choice, admitting students through a selection process.
Teaching approach
The school is committed to a humanist tradition, aiming to develop students intellectually while fostering social and planetary consciousness. It emphasizes an approach based on questioning and research, encouraging students to be creative, curious, respectful, empathetic, and open to diverse perspectives. The mission is to cultivate well-rounded individuals who are capable of contributing to a better, more collaborative, and interculturally respectful world.
Programmes
The school offers an international education program, including the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and the Middle Years Programme (MYP). The curriculum focuses on the development of knowledge and international sensitivity, with instruction provided in three languages: French, English, and Spanish. The program is designed to foster an active role in the community and an understanding of global realities.
Outcomes
At the end of their secondary studies, students receive the diploma from the Ministry of Education, the diploma from the SÉBIQ (Société des écoles du monde du BI du Québec et de la francophonie), and the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) certificate for those who meet all requirements. Students in the fifth year of the MYP complete a personal project, which serves as a culminating research activity to apply the knowledge and skills developed throughout their program.
Student support
Learning support
The school provides professional and technical support services to assist students in their academic journey. These services are part of a broader network within the CSSDM, which employs over 1,000 education specialists to support student development. Additional aid measures are also in place to ensure a well-balanced environment.
Tuition & fees
No published fee schedule was found for this school.
Admissions
Admission to the school is by selection through an entrance examination, and it is not a neighborhood school. The registration period for the primary level occurs during October, and the process must be completed entirely online. Priority is given to students residing within the territory of the Centre de services scolaire de Montréal (CSSDM). Students already enrolled in the primary school are automatically transferred to the secondary school.
Calendar
The school operates on a specific academic calendar for both its primary and secondary levels. Detailed calendars for the current and upcoming academic years are available for consultation on the school's website.
About the campus
The school operates across two main locations: a primary site on Avenue Prud’homme and a secondary site on Chemin de la Côte-Saint-Antoine in Westmount. The campus includes dedicated spaces for students, a cafeteria at the secondary level, and a skatepark. Virtual tours and video capsules of the facilities are available on the school's website.
Co-curriculars
The school offers a wide range of extracurricular and sports activities, with approximately 55 sports activities available. These include various clubs and committees for both primary and secondary students, as well as cultural trips designed to broaden students' horizons.
