Marymount Academy International

Marymount Academy International fosters a respectful, caring, and inclusive environment that celebrates the diversity of its student body. The school offers two primary academic pathways: the MEQ Secondary Education Program and the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) for students aged 11 to 16. The IB MYP curriculum includes eight subject areas, with IB students in grades 7 and 8 taking History, Geography, and Science in French, as well as Spanish. All IB students complete annual community service initiatives and a self-directed Personal Project in grade 11. The school also provides a music program and specialized support for English and French language learners.

Students completing the five-year IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) receive a Record of Achievement from the IB central offices and a local IB MYP Certificate. The school emphasizes the development of critical thinking, global citizenship, and independent learning skills. Graduates are prepared to continue their education with a strong foundation in research, communication, and self-management.

The school provides a variety of resources to support student success, including the STEP Resource Centre and dedicated tutoring services. Professional support staff include guidance counsellors, a social worker, a school nurse, and a spiritual animator. Additionally, the school employs behaviour technicians and pupil attendants to assist students, alongside specialized coordinators for French as a Second Language (FSL) and mathematics support.

Required documentation includes a birth certificate, immigration papers (if applicable), an English eligibility certificate, previous report cards, and completed medical, media, and release of information forms. International and temporary stay students must first contact the English Montreal School Board (EMSB) Eligibility Office.

The school maintains comprehensive, regularly updated activity calendars that track sports events, music performances, club meetings, and special assemblies. These calendars are designed to help students and parents manage academic and extracurricular commitments throughout the school year. Specific schedules, such as exam dates, are also provided to the community.

The campus is located in Notre Dame de Grace, near the Villa Maria Metro station, and is easily accessible via multiple bus routes. Facilities include a library, a science department, and a dedicated science lab. For athletics, the school features a Mauro Biello outdoor soccer field and a games room. The school also operates a student-run Fresh Fusion Bistro.

The school offers a wide range of extracurricular activities, including student leadership groups like the IB Group, Student Council, and general leadership initiatives. Athletic opportunities include GMAA sports teams and after-school basketball programs supported by Uphill Athletics. Students also participate in a music program featuring a steel pan band, and operate the Fresh Fusion Bistro. Community engagement is a priority, with students participating in community days and a tutoring program that supports elementary schools.
