Annesley Junior School

The school’s educational approach is progressive, innovative, and research-informed, with a strong emphasis on relational practices. As an IB World School, the curriculum balances explicit teaching of English and Mathematics with transdisciplinary inquiries and a broad specialist program. Signature initiatives include 'The Quest,' an experiential outdoor learning program for Years 1–6; the 'World Peace Game' for Year 5; and an 'Enterprise' program that fosters entrepreneurial skills. Students in Years 4–6 also participate in work-related skills through student-led ventures like the school cafe and uniform store. Literacy instruction is supported by the Sounds-Write program, and numeracy is enhanced through Moving Maths.

The school employs a Coordinator of Personalised Learning who leads a team of Student Support Officers (SSOs). Annesley Junior School is a co-educational school for students aged 2 to 12. Applications for enrolment from the Early Learning Centre (ELC) through to Year 6 can be submitted at any time. The school invites prospective families to begin the process by booking a personalised school tour.

The school operates on a four-term academic calendar. In 2026, terms run from late January to early December, with specific term lengths ranging from 8 to 11 weeks. The ELC and Vacation Care services operate for most of the year, with designated school closure dates for staff professional learning sessions.

Located near Adelaide’s South Parklands, the campus features extensive outdoor spaces and purpose-built learning environments. Key facilities include the historic Gillingham Hall for performing arts, a large indoor gymnasium, a newly developed Arts and Library precinct in the Harris Building, and a renovated Patchell Building serving as a Year 6 hub and administration centre. The school also maintains a dedicated Science Lab and a state-of-the-art Digital Technologies learning space.
