Discovery Montessori Academy

The school follows the Montessori method as outlined by the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI), focusing on fostering independence, internal motivation, self-discipline, creativity, and social responsibility. It emphasizes a child-centred approach where teachers act as guides to help each student develop naturally within a prepared environment.

The school offers a bilingual (English and Putonghua) curriculum for children aged 1–12, structured into stages including the Montessori Nursery (1–2.5Y), Little Casa (2–3.5Y), Casa dei Bambini (3–6Y), and the IB Montessori Elementary (6–12Y). The academic program integrates subjects such as math, science, history, geography, and language through an inquiry-based approach, with native-speaking teachers supporting language acquisition in both English and Chinese. Primary students at the academy are grouped by Chinese proficiency levels to facilitate both native and non-native language learning.

The school provides a Learning Extension and Gifted Programme to support students with diverse learning needs. This initiative is part of the school's commitment to fostering individual development and academic growth.

Admissions are open to families who support the school's mission and values, with applications accepted from 1st September to 1st February, or throughout the year if space permits. The process includes an online application, document submission, and assessments to determine English language proficiency and academic and social readiness. Priority is given based on age-appropriateness and space availability.

The school operates three campuses in Discovery Bay and Central, including a purpose-built, European-designed facility in Discovery Bay. Each campus features spacious, bright, and inviting "prepared environments" equipped with comprehensive, self-correcting Montessori materials designed to support child-led learning.

The school offers extra-curricular activities and summer camps to enrich the student experience. These programs are designed to complement the core curriculum and provide additional opportunities for student engagement.
