Our Saviour Lutheran School

The school is a neuroaffirming and trauma-informed community that prioritises a child-centred, relational approach to education. It is guided by a desire to see every student thrive, fostering values of compassion, kindness, empathy, and respectful relationships. While maintaining a Lutheran identity, the school welcomes families from all backgrounds and backgrounds.

The school follows the Australian National Curriculum, with a strong emphasis on explicit instructional practices in literacy and numeracy. The academic programme includes core subjects such as English, Mathematics, and Christian Studies, alongside specialist instruction in German, the Arts (dance, drama, music, visual and media arts), and Physical Education. A Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) programme is implemented for students in Years 4 to 6, while Junior Primary classes utilise iPads to enhance learning.

The school focuses on building confidence, identity, and a lifelong love of learning during the primary years. Upon graduation, the school works closely with families to facilitate successful transitions to a wide range of public and independent secondary schools.

The school employs a Learning Support Coordinator and a team of Learning Support Officers who work with classroom teachers to provide targeted assistance. Support strategies include in-class mentoring, one-on-one tutoring, social skills programmes, and access to 'The Zone', a dedicated space for sensory games and calming activities. Individual Learning Plans are developed for students as needed to ensure their specific academic, social, and emotional requirements are met.

The school invites applications for all year levels from Reception to Year 6. The enrolment process involves three steps: an initial enquiry—which may include requesting a prospectus or attending a Principal’s Tour—submitting an application form with a fee, and receiving an offer of placement. Offers for Reception are typically made two years prior to entry, while places in other year levels are offered as they become available.

The school operates on a four-term academic year. A typical school day begins with supervision at 8:30 am, followed by the start of learning at 8:50 am, and concludes with dismissal at 3:15 pm. Outside of these hours, students must attend Out of School Hours Care unless participating in an organised school activity.

The campus features a range of indoor and outdoor spaces, including an oval, a netball/basketball court, a gymnasium, and a library centre. Specialist facilities include 'Karnkendi', a multi-purpose centre for the arts and physical education, and a dedicated Music Centre. The grounds also incorporate nature play areas, a school garden, and chooks to support student wellbeing and environmental education.

Students have access to a variety of co-curricular activities, including choir, band, and private instrumental music lessons. The school offers a dynamic sports program that includes interschool competitions through SAPSASA, after-school sports, and various clinics such as tennis, athletics, and dance. Additionally, students participate in a biannual school musical and a Buddy Program that pairs Year 6 students with Foundation students for weekly STEM learning.
